Jim Dowdall - Group Chief Executive, Aviva Group Ireland plc

Jim Dowdall was appointed to the position of Chief Executive of Aviva Group Ireland plc in December 2009. He was previously Managing Director of Aviva's Health business in Ireland, a role he was appointed to in November 2008 from the position of Operations Director for Aviva's Health business in Ireland. Jim was appointed to the role of Operations Director in 2004 as a founder member of the VIVAS Health management team. Jim has also held senior management positions in Marrakech plc, an e-Commerce company and was European Director of Operations for Amdahl Corporation, a subsidiary of Fujitsu Corporation which specialises in IT and software solutions. Jim began his career in the financial services sector, working for Irish Life Assurance plc.

Michael Murphy, Managing Director, Aviva Insurance Europe SE

Michael is Managing Director of Aviva Insurance Europe SE. He joined Aviva Group Ireland plc in April 2007 in the role of Group Finance Director. Prior to his role with Aviva Group Ireland plc, Michael was Finance Director and Chief Actuary for Canada Life Ireland and Canada Life Europe. Michael also spent 10 years with Watson Wyatt in the UK, where he worked in the areas of capital management and mergers & acquisitions. Michael is also a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and Society of Actuaries in Ireland.

Dermot Browne, Managing Director, Aviva Life Holdings Ireland Limited

Dermot joined the group in January 2007 as Managing Director of Aviva Life Holdings Ireland Limited. Prior to this, Dermot held the position of Director of Sales & Marketing and Information Technology at Eagle Star Life Assurance Company Limited. Dermot began his career as an auditor with KPMG and Telecom Eireann. Dermot is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Mick Furlong, Customer Experience Director, Aviva Group Ireland plc

Mick joined Aviva Group Ireland plc in June 2008 in the newly created role of Customer Experience Director. Mick previously worked with VHI Healthcare where he was IT and Business Process Director. Prior to joining VHI, Mick worked as a director in Accenture, based first in the UK and then in Ireland, where he worked across a number of clients in the financial services areas. Mick also worked in Compaq managing their European Operations Centres, and at TSB Bank as Head of IT. Mick has a Masters Degree in Business Administration.

Aidan Holton, Group Finance Director, Aviva Group Ireland plc

Aidan Holton was appointed as Group Finance Director of Aviva Group Ireland plc on September 1 2008. Aidan previously worked with Irish Life Assurance where he held the position of General Manager – Finance & IT. Aidan has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. Having qualified as an accountant with Irish Life, Aidan then moved on to actuarial studies and ran the finance functions since the late 90’s and added the IT division to his role in 2005.

Paul Kelly - Group Strategic Marketing Director, Aviva Group Ireland plc

Paul joined Aviva Group Ireland plc in September 2007 as Group Strategic Marketing Director. Prior to this role Paul was Marketing Director of Diageo Ireland where he led the marketing, innovation and strategy on Diageo's full portfolio in Ireland which included brands like Guinness, Smirnoff, Budweiser, Carlsberg, Baileys, Bushmills, Smithwicks and Harp. Paul was with Diageo in Ireland for ten years and prior to this he worked in brand management for Procter & Gamble UK for five years.

Liz White - Director of People and Leadership, Aviva Group Ireland plc

Liz White joined Aviva in October 2009 as Director of People & Leadership. Liz was previously Human Resources Director at Aer Lingus, a position she held since 2002. Prior to joining Aer Lingus, Liz worked for Eircom from 2000 to 2002 as Head of Compensation and Benefits, and Head of HR (Retail). She has held senior management positions with Vauxhall UK and IBC Vehicles, a subsidiary of General Motors Europe. Liz holds a PhD in Science from Trinity College, Dublin and a Diploma in Organisation Behaviour from Birkbeck College, London
