Aviva wins a Chambers Ireland CR award
Aviva has won the 'Good Neighbour - Multinational Company' award for the development of its ‘Street to School Programme’ that supports and encourages children affected by homelessness back into school or training.
Focus Ireland was chosen by our employees to become the Aviva Ireland Street to School charity partner until 2015. Aviva Ireland and its employees will support Focus Ireland to end child homelessness through working with school children, researching homelessness prevention and providing support services for those at risk of homelessness or already homeless.
What are the aims of the Aviva Street to School programme?
- To champion the needs of street children (children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in the Irish context) in the communities in which we live and work
- To support initiatives that help and encourage these children back into school or training programmes
- To support Focus Ireland raise awareness of the plight of children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and advocate the right of every child to fulfil their potential
The Street to School partnership will help:
- To increase homelessness awareness and prevention amongst school children by engaging with the Aviva Volunteer Programme
- To gain support from Aviva’s staff, customers, suppliers and partners for our Advocacy campaigns
- To explore potential for European wide initiative to share knowledge and service experience on supporting children who are homeless or at risk of homelessness through the Street to School partners in other countries
About Aviva Street to School internationally
Aviva plc has launched Aviva Street to School as its new international community investment programme. This programme aims to improve the lives of thousands of street children and young people around the world by helping them get off the streets and into education and training. The programme will run for a minimum of five years and will include support for street children projects in the 28 markets that Aviva operates in around the world. Aviva’s businesses around the world will select local charity partners to support the needs of children living or working on the streets in their country.
