Volunteer programme
Joining the local community
With the recent move to an impressive new headquarters in Hatch Street, Aviva Group Ireland plc believes that building good community relations is an important part of doing business. Not only that but making sure that the large new office building with 1,500 people makes as little an impact on the environment as possible.
Helping out in the local area
A ‘hands on’ volunteer programme to help the people in the local community was successfully introduced to Aviva staff in 2005. Recently, with the move to Hatch Street, the programme was expanded by adding three new projects from the local area. The volunteer programme gives staff an opportunity to get to know one another as well as giving something back to the community.
Aviva Group Ireland plc staff said they wanted the opportunity to use their skills in practical ways. Fully backed by Aviva Group Ireland plc, through the availability of time and financial resources, the programme facilitates volunteering during office hours as well as supervises activity afterwards.
The projects – how our volunteers are making a difference
The projects, youth, new communities, older persons and the homeless. These projects provide a variety of volunteering opportunities for staff to reach out to the local community in a meaningful way. For example, staff use their skills to help local children with homework, volunteer for an activity group for older people running flower arranging or bingo sessions or sharing their IT or HR skills with those looking for employment.
