New Managing Director appointed to Hibernian Health

Hibernian Group, Ireland's leading multi-line insurer, has today announced the appointment of Jim Dowdall to the position of Managing Director of Hibernian Health, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.  

Jim is currently Operations Director with Hibernian Health, a role he has held since the company was founded as Vivas Health in 2004.

Stuart Purdy, Group Chief Executive of Hibernian commented: "Jim brings a wealth of business expertise to this role, as well as an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in the health insurance industry.  Hibernian Health has a stated ambition to significantly grow our share of the health insurance sector to 500,000 customers by 2013.  This is a key goal in ensuring Hibernian Group's growth and success in Ireland and I am confident that Jim has the vision and experience to achieve this."

Prior to joining Vivas Health, Jim held senior management positions in Marrakech plc, an e-Commerce company and was European Director of Operations for Amdahl Corporation, a subsidiary of Fujitsu Corporation which specialises in IT and software solutions.  Jim began his career in the financial services sector, working for Irish Life Assurance plc.

Jim will, subject to the necessary approvals, assume the role of Managing Director, Hibernian Health, at the end of November 2008.
