3 DIY Pampering Treatments

Mindfulness 2

With Wellfest 2017 in full swing, now is the perfect time to zero in on the value of nurturing our health. We all know the importance of physical health. But, we also need to remember to take time to focus on our mental and spiritual health too.

By setting a few minutes aside each day to clear our minds, we can learn to manage stress and achieve a healthy balance in mind, body and spirit.

We each have different ways of relaxing. Some of us might like to take a walk or listen to some music, while others may like to take a yoga class or meditate. It’s a good idea to find a form of relaxation that you like and incorporate it into your routine.

One good way to relax both your body and mind is to treat yourself to a little pampering. We’ve come up with three quick and easy, natural treatments that you can make and use at home.

It’s great to know exactly what you’re putting on your body. These simple treatments have no more than two natural ingredients, which eliminates any fear of putting chemicals or other unnatural ingredients on your hair and skin. It’s also a positive that the products you’re using have not been tested on animals.

Whip up your very own natural facial exfoliator by mixing these two simple ingredients. Coffee is an excellent natural exfoliant. It contains caffeic acid which claims to boost collagen production. Caroline Gray, editor of Easy Food Magazine tells us that coconut oil is also great for our skin as it’s naturally antifungal and antibacterial. And, it works as an excellent moisturiser too.

Caroline says that by adding a little olive oil to one mashed banana, and simply applying directly to dry hair, we can create a brilliantly nourishing hair mask. Bananas are rich in potassium, natural oils and vitamins which can protect your hair’s elasticity. Bananas can also prevent split ends and breakage while also adding shine and aiding growth. Plus, the olive oil included is packed with fatty acids, which, make for an excellent natural moisturiser. This can even help combat dandruff and dry scalp.

Why not create your own revitalising face mask by combining half a ripe avocado with a little honey. Avocados are rich in fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins that can improve your skin both from the inside and out. Caroline adds that these fatty acids act as natural moisturisers for your skin. Likewise, honey is naturally antibacterial and full of antioxidants. This makes it great for treating acne and reducing the signs of aging.

As you relax, remember to think about what you are doing and be mindful of how you are nourishing your body. And, Caroline reminds us to make sure to drink six to eight glasses of water a day to keep skin hydrated. That way you’ll reap even more benefits.
