Why do I need self build insurance?

If you’re building your own home or extending or renovating an existing property, you’ll need self-build insurance to cover you for property damage and legal liabilities.

We offer two self build products

• Self build for new homes
• Self build for extensions and renovations

The same standard cover applies to both products.

How much cover should I choose?

The amount of cover you choose, or the sum insured, is very important and often misunderstood. You should base this on the rebuilding cost of your home, not the projected market value.
