Fraud Alert

Fraudulent Phone Calls

At Aviva we are committed to protecting you against fraud.

We have recently been made aware that fraudsters are targeting customers like you by placing phone calls claiming to be Aviva.

These calls are being made from outside Ireland and if answered an automated service will advise you that a sum of money is to be debited from your account.  These calls are fraudulent and in no way associated with Aviva.

Please be wary of unsolicited communications and do not divulge personal information until you have validated that the caller is a genuine representative of the organisation they claim to represent.

When and how might we contact you?

Aviva will contact you by phone if your policy is due for renewal, you have requested a quote or you have an open query or claim with us.

We’ll only ever contact you during our opening hours of 9:00am and 8:00pm Monday – Friday.

We do from time to time carry out customer research over the phone so that we can continually improve the service we offer.  However, you’ll never be asked to provide your policy details, bank account information, credit card information, or any form of password for the purposes of research.

We will also on occasion contact you via SMS and email.  It’s important to note that we’ll never ask you to supply personal information back to us via SMS or email.

What information might we request on a phone call to you?

If we were to make an unexpected phone call to you, we would never ask you to confirm or provide your bank account information, or any form of password.

What should you do if you receive a phone / email you believe to be fraudulent / suspicious?

If you receive a phone call from someone claiming to be calling from Aviva and you suspect it is fraudulent, do not provide any information - including personal, policy, financial / banking or confidential information to any caller. You should terminate the call immediately.

If you receive an email and you don’t believe it has come from us, avoid responding, providing information or clicking on links contained within.

Reporting your concerns

If you are concerned about the authenticity of a call, email or  SMS you have received and you suspect it to be fraudulent, report it to us right away. We can confirm to you whether or not the phone call or email was genuine.

If you have recently received a call, email or SMS and you are concerned that you may have already provided information to a fraudster, you should notify us in the first instance.
