This notice explains the most important aspects of how we use your personal information when handling insurance claims. You can find more detailed information in our full privacy policy at aviva.ie/privacy, or request a copy by writing to the Data Protection Team, Aviva, Building 12, Cherrywood Business Park, Loughlinstown, Dublin 18.

The data controller responsible for this personal information is Aviva Insurance Ireland DAC ("we", "us", "our").

We collect and use personal information about you where you are either an Aviva customer making a claim or an individual making a claim against an Aviva customer (a third‑party claimant). We use this information to receive, assess, investigate, manage and settle claims, to detect and prevent fraud, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations.

The personal information we use will depend on the nature of the claim and may include general information such as your name, contact details and claim details, as well as, where relevant, more sensitive information such as health information or limited information relating to criminal convictions. This information is only used where necessary for claims handling, legal, regulatory or fraud‑prevention purposes.

If you provide personal information about another person to us (for example witnesses or other injured parties), you should ensure they are aware that their information is being shared with Aviva.

Some of the personal information we use may be obtained from third parties, including other people involved in the claim, witnesses, loss adjusters, investigators, expert advisers, medical professionals (where relevant), law enforcement or regulatory bodies, and insurance industry databases used for fraud prevention.

We may share personal information with other Aviva group companies and third parties involved in handling the claim, such as loss adjusters, legal advisers, expert witnesses, reinsurers, regulators and law enforcement bodies. In some cases, personal information may be transferred outside the European Economic Area, but appropriate safeguards will always be in place.

We maintain retention policies to ensure personal information is kept only for as long as necessary to manage claims and to meet legal and regulatory requirements.

You have rights in relation to your personal information, including the right to access and correct your data, to object to certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission. Further information about your rights is available in our full privacy policy or by contacting us at DPO@aviva.com.

If you have any questions about how we use your personal information in connection with a claim, please contact our Data Protection Team using the details above.
