Tailor your cover to meet your specific renters contents insurance needs.
At Aviva, we understand that for most things in life, one size doesn’t fit all. And the same can be said about insurance. The home insurance you need when renting differs from the home insurance you need when you own a home. We offer renters contents insurance cover, which you can tailor to suit your needs.
Renters insurance as part of Aviva's home insurance product offering.
Why do you need renters contents insurance?
Whether you own it or not, the house or apartment you live in is your home. We all want to protect the belongings that make our house feel like our own special space. Your landlord will more than likely have buildings only insurance, meaning nothing inside of your rented home is covered should anything happen. It’s up to you as the tenant to get renters insurance to protect your belongings.
Renters insurance is also known as contents insurance. You can find more information about renters contents insurance on our dedicated page. There are plenty of instances where you would be relieved to have contents cover in place - if there was a fire in your home, flooding or a burglary, you would be insured against damages or losses to your belongings.
Calculate your contents value
Try our handy Contents Insurance Calculator to work out the value of your contents.
What is covered with renters contents insurance?
Your contents cover will include household goods like:
- Ornaments
- Sofas, beds and linen
- Bookshelves and books
It also includes belongings whilst within your home such as:
- Clothes and shoes
- Jewellery
- Laptops, TVs and phones
- Cash of up to €400
A good way to think of it, is insurance that covers items you would normally take with you when moving home. We offer contents cover on a ‘new for old’ basis. This means that, in most cases, we will replace stolen or damaged items with new items.
There are a number of special features and discounts that are included as standard with renters contents insurance.
