Reboot with Aviva
The cost of children's sport is putting increasing pressure on families across Ireland. New research commissioned by Aviva found that 51% of parents have decided not to enrol their child in a sport or activity because of the cost, while 80% say the cost of their children's sports and activities puts financial pressure on their household.
In response, Aviva in partnership with the FAI has developed ReBoot with Aviva, a nationwide initiative designed to help reduce the cost of football by giving outgrown boots a second life.
Working with schools, clubs and families across Ireland, ReBoot with Aviva encourages communities to donate, share and reuse football boots, helping to support participation in grassroots football while reducing unnecessary waste.
How it works
Schools and football clubs can register to take part in ReBoot with Aviva, while families can nominate a local school or club to get involved.
Participating schools and clubs will receive a ReBoot Pack containing two swap boxes that can be organised in a way that best suits their community, such as by age group or player category. Schools and clubs are also encouraged to appoint a ReBoot Champion to help coordinate collections and promote the initiative locally.
Each ReBoot Pack includes a promotional poster featuring three simple steps:
- Swap
- Reuse
- Play On
Families are encouraged to deposit clean, usable football boots they no longer need in a ReBoot box at their club or school. They are then welcome to take a pair of boots in the size they need, subject to availability, free of charge. This helps quality boots stay in use for longer while supporting more young players to stay involved in the game.
Why Get Involved?
