Compare travel insurance options
Some trips are quick getaways, others take a bit more planning, and some turn into something much bigger. That is why Aviva offers a range of travel insurance options, so you can choose the one that best fits the way you travel.
Multi-Trip
Planning more than one getaway? Annual multi-trip insurance covers multiple holidays throughout the year. Each trip can last up to 31 days during the policy year.
Single Trip
A single-trip policy covers one holiday of up to 31 days. When getting a quote, you can choose your travel dates or enter how many days you are away, so your cover reflects the full length of your trip from departure to return.
Backpacking
Heading away for longer? Backpacker travel insurance is designed for a single extended trip from Ireland, with protection for emergency medical expenses, cancellation, personal belongings and money while you are away.
Winter Sports & Skiing
Enjoy your winter holiday with confidence by adding Aviva's optional winter sports travel insurance for activities including skiing, snowboarding, tobogganing and outdoor ice skating.
Optional add-on cover.
Get a travel insurance quote
Now that your holiday is booked and your next trip is arranged, it is time to sort your travel insurance for you and your family. To get a quick quote in just a few steps, simply:
1. Fill in your details such as your name and email address.
2. Enter your travel details, such as single or multi-trip.
3. Enter traveller details, such as whether you hold private medical insurance.
4. Get your quote
You can then add optional cover such as winter sports and scuba diving to your quote.
Travel insurance destinations
Different destinations can bring different travel considerations, from local breaks to long-haul journeys. Whether you’re travelling within Ireland, across Europe or further afield, it’s important to choose cover that reflects your journey and the way you travel. Choose from:
Travel insurance for Europe
Where applicable, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) can help you access state healthcare in eligible European countries, often at reduced cost or sometimes free depending on the country. If you have declared private medical insurance, it must include cover for medical expenses abroad for the duration of your policy.
Worldwide travel excluding USA
Applies to destinations outside Europe, based on the geographical area you select when taking out your policy. This includes worldwide options shown on your policy schedule, allowing you to choose the level of protection that best suits your destination.
Worldwide travel including USA
Healthcare in the USA can be significantly more expensive than in many other destinations, making it especially important to have the right level of travel insurance in place. Even minor treatment can result in high costs, so suitable cover helps protect you if you need medical care while abroad.
Travelling within Ireland
Covers holidays in the Republic of Ireland with at least two consecutive nights in pre-booked accommodation, offering similar protection to overseas travel including emergency medical expenses, cancellation and personal belongings, depending on your policy.
Good to know
Travel insurance is available to residents of the Republic of Ireland who meet the policy eligibility requirements.
Travel insurance with medical conditions
If you have a medical condition, please answer all medical declaration questions fully and accurately when getting a quote. Your answers will help determine whether you are eligible for cover and what cover is available to you.
Depending on your policy, this can include emergency medical treatment abroad, hospital stays, and situations where medical evacuation or quarantine may be required. Accurate medical information is essential, as it forms part of your eligibility and cover assessment.
Good to know
It's important to provide accurate medical information when getting a quote. Eligibility and cover are based on the information declared.
Travel tips & safety
Planning ahead can make a big difference if something unexpected happens while you’re away. Taking a few simple steps before you travel can help you stay prepared, stay informed and know what to do if things don’t go to plan.
Travel advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs
Travel insurance will not cover trips to destinations where the Department of Foreign Affairs advises against travel. Before you travel, it’s a good idea to check the latest travel advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs for your destination, including safety updates and entry requirements.
What should I do in a medical emergency?
If you're admitted to hospital, require tests or investigations or need help arranging your return home, contact the Medical Emergency Assistance Helpline on +44 20 8137 3648 as soon as possible. The cost of this service is covered under Aviva’s travel insurance and it can help coordinate treatment, hospital admissions and return travel arrangements where required.
If you're unable to return to the Republic of Ireland as planned due to a transport delay, cancellation or breakdown, your cover may be extended automatically.
Which documents should I bring? (Passport, Insurance, EHIC)
Before you travel, make sure your passport and any required travel documents are valid for your destination. You can access your travel insurance details anytime through MyAviva, including your policy documents, as proof of cover and for use if you need assistance or to make a claim. Where applicable, the European Health Insurance Card can help you access state healthcare in eligible European countries.
